The Angel Releases St. Peter from Prison

This painting pictures Acts 12:6-9. Imprisoned by Herod, Peter is released by an angel. God's agency in this matter is symbolized by the golden light breaking through the clouds in the upper right corner. In the background are the walls and tall buildings of Jerusalem. Perched impossibly above the prison is a tower with three windows and a traditional Crucifixion scene.
